Lattice Guitars

Over the years I have specialized in building guitars with an internal truss structure.

In the 1980s, new proposals, designs and materials began to be used in the construction of classical concert guitars. After a century of hegemony of the Spanish fan construction, proposed mainly by Antonio de Torres, innovations from Australia and Germany substantially changed the course of world Luthery.

The lattice construction, known as "Lattice Guitars", proposed by Greg Smallman and widely disseminated by guitarist John Williams, both Australians, receives this name because its internal structure of the top uses a formation of wooden bars, reinforced or not by fiberglass. carbon, providing greater resistance and balance. Complemented by an extremely rigid and stable side and bottom structure, you get a lot of sound power, projection, sustain, response speed and voice balance.

As the luthier's knowledge and expertise directly result in the instrument's sound qualities, we cannot say that a specific school of construction will be the formula for success. In lutheria, there are no ready-made recipes or magic formulas.

Over the years, I have been looking for one so that my guitars have an immersive and powerful sound, with great projection for large concert halls. I aim for my clients to be able to use their guitars in chamber music with pianists, singers, orchestral instruments, without the use of electronic amplification.

But I also look for my guitars to have a full-bodied tone in the treble region, deep in the bass and balanced in the middle region. Have a support that allows you to expand and highlight the guitarist's musicality and phrasing. They have a dynamic range that allows a pianissimo that reaches the back of the room but at the same time can reach the fortissimo without excessive effort. Have a quick response to the touch of the right hand and respond to the subtle movements of the attack with colorful timbrals. They provide comfort to the musician's left hand through a perfectly balanced and adjusted neck, as well as the production of clear tones, obtained without excessive effort.
